The Explorer Program of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) organization encourages the personal development of its career-oriented young adults member aged 14 through 21 by giving them the support of career professionals along with the ability to benefit from their experience.
Individual members are also known as Explorer(s). While the program is part of the BSA, the Explorer program is distinctively different from scouting. Explorer is a co-educational, young-adult program developed and supervised by local community organizations, businesses and individuals providing an opportunity for young adults to explore a particular career field of their own choosing. Vernon Connecticut Police Explorer Post 800 encourages its youth members to achieve their personal goals while learning about law enforcement functions. They also benefit their local community by providing a community-based policing service. Explorer Post 800 is sponsored by the Vernon Police Department, Vernon, CT.

Vernon Police Explorer 800 Mission Statement The mission of the Vernon Police Explorer Post 800 is to develop desirable qualities of character, and teach responsible citizenship and leadership, while introducing Explorers to a career in law enforcement and community emergency response through training and practical application.
